Skellig Michael

Eight miles off the Kerry coast. Monks lived there in stone beehive huts from the 6th century. Climbed 600 steps every day. No water source on the island. They survived on fish, seabird eggs, and rainwater. Abandoned in the 12th century when the climate cooled.
