The Petrie Crown

Bronze openwork crown from the 2nd century AD. Found in a Tipperary bog in the 1830s by a man cutting turf. Decorated with delicate spirals and bird heads. No one knows what it was for. It is unlike any other surviving object from Iron Age Ireland.
